This one is for the girl dads

Last Friday was Black Friday, the infamous day of shopping. I was at the garage working on my 1946 Chevy Pickup with my dad. When I was young, Dad always had a classic car project. He always invited me to hang out and help him while he worked.

For the girl dads

After the garage Fri, we came home and watched one of my fave movies, Ford v Ferrari. Dad hadn't seen it yet, but I knew he'd love it. So there we sat. Cheering for the underdogs and crying.

My dad is a gear-head math teacher turned software engineer who loves sports. Growing up, he included me in his favorite hobbies, from classic cars to building things to 76er / Celtic games. My Black Friday was happily spent spilling gasoline on my jeans, not shopping for fancy threads.

To all the girl dads, one of the best things you can do is include your girls in the things you love. If you dig golf, ice fishing, woodworking, boxing, making your lawn the best on the block… whatever it is, let the girls in. Trust me. It's not what you are doing, it's who you are with.

Even if the world tells you those girls would rather be shopping. They are wrong. If you don't know, now you know.

On behalf of every man looking out for every girl
You are the God and weight of her world
So fathers, be good to your daughters
