What you love can lead you to the right place

Dads give some pretty good advice, but on this one, my dad was oh-so-wrong.

I spent my freshman year of college "trying on" a bunch of potential majors - social work, philosophy, political science. In my sophomore year, I declared English Literature. My dad wasn't vibing.

Dad: *sighs* You can either be a teacher or a lawyer. That's it.

Wrong, Dad.

I took that literature degree to the Street. Used my passion for words in an industry that loves numbers. Turned stories into deals and deals into dollars. Raised billions against the odds. Even started a company.

I'd tell my younger self:
Don't worry what the degree is in
Don't do the thing you think you should
Do what's in your heart
Do it for the love, not the likes
Not the career
Not the money

Because what you love can lead you to places you can't even imagine.
