The reject product I bought on the spot

When I went to the farmer's market, I wasn't expecting to get this…

eternity-ring

I have a few very special rings in my life, given to me by people I love. This one, I bought for myself.

Last year was the 10 year anniversary of founding my company. I met a female founder at a farmers’ market in Block Island. She is a breakaway, a boutique fighting against the odds. She used to work for David Yurman, but decided to hang her own shingle.

I really liked this diamond eternity band she made. I tried it on. Then she told me the story…

These diamonds are the rejects
Considered flawed
"Not good enough"
Usually ground down to make drill bits

Most designers think these rustic diamonds are ugly and give up on them. She believes their flaws are beautiful and gives them the spotlight they deserve.

I liked the ring when I saw it. I loved the ring when I heard the story. I bought it on the spot. In honor of 10 years… for our mission… for me.

I wear it everyday as a reminder that underdogs can win. That different is beautiful. That stories matter.

Walk the talk, yes… but also talk your walk. Stories matter.
