Punching above your weight

David didn’t beat Goliath with heavy artillery, ground troops, and an air assault. David beat Goliath with a slingshot. Find yours.

Maybe I can help. I did a thing with an amazing group of people. Turns out that's a recipe for awesome sauce.

My rockstar friend Chris Delahunt and the band at Citywire RIA hosted a panel to help boutiques punch above their weight. The odds are stacked against boutiques in asset management and in wealth management. The bigs are gobbling each other up in crazy megalomaniacal M&A. The boutiques are afraid they can’t compete unless they merge too.

Broad inflows continue to favor the biggest not the best. Boutiques try to fight it, but many are losing the battle and worse, they’re losing hope. Stop the madness. Stop using the wrong playbook. If you want real talk from real people in the boutique trenches every day, run (don’t walk) to the video below. You might just find your slingshot there. Play small to fight big.
