Align with your client's motivation and timing

Sales people often have the mindset, "I gotta go close some deals." But you can't control closing deals. You can control being a person, telling powerful stories, making friends, understanding your prospects' problems, presenting your solution. But you can't control your client's or prospect's motivation or timing.

So what does that mean? It means you can align with these components... understand that part of their story. How painful is the thing they are trying to solve? How strong is the motivation to harness an opportunity? As a boutique investment firm - or a sales person in any industry, you can differentiate yourself by aligning with your clients and prospects in this way.
